Landlords will need to find out what insulation is in your rental property. This includes physically looking, engaging a professional to do an assessment, or checking the council building file.

Ask for a professional insulation installer to install or check the insulation for your home. They will be able to advise and give you a quote if the insulation needs work to meet the regulations that come into force on 1 July 2019.

I highly recommend you to talk to a professional early to avoid a last-minute rush.

2. ANZ Interest-free home loan offer– for insulation

I know how expensive it is to live in New Zealand. It's quite challenge if you are going to pay a one-off payment to insulation for one property. Needless to say if you got two or more properties, it might be a tough situation for you to take out several thousands of dollars.

Now...here is the good news.

ANZ Bank

ANZ is pledging $100 million of interest-free home lending to help insulate Kiwi homes. You will be able to apply up to $5,000 per property secured with ANZ. Each loan is limited to a maximum of $5,000 or the value of the quote, whichever is lower. For the insulation quote, you will need to get it from your insulation professional.

3. What's the eligibility of ANZ insulation Interest-free loan?

The prerequisite is you must be ANZ customer, however if you transferred your mortgage and gave ANZ a loan over the house to be insulated, you would be able to apply. You are allowed to request 2 separate loans, but each loan must be for a separate property held as security by ANZ.
